This position aids in the pursuit, definition, and execution of Bastian Software Solutions projects for new and existing clients, helping ensure we deliver solutions that meet our customer's strategic goals. A Business Process Analyst will work with many groups within Bastian organization.  He or she will aid sales in many aspects of the sales process including requirements gathering and solution development.  The Business Process Analyst will aid in the coordination between sales and other Bastian Software departments ensuring that designed solutions are based on sound engineering principles.  The Business Process Analyst will also evaluate existing system providing recommendations to the Bastian and the customer on how to maximize the use and effectiveness of the system. The Business Process Analyst must work in a team-oriented manner with their colleagues and senior management for the mutual success of the company and themselves.

  • Collaborate with sales force throughout sales cycle participating in:  
    • Requirements gathering
    • Process flow analysis
    • Pricing and proposal generation
    • Project Initiation and handoff to implementation team
  • Assists out in the field analyzing processes as new systems go through start-up and operational support.


  • MBA or MS preferred, with an undergraduate degree in Engineering or other technical field. 
  • Understanding of supply chain and distribution systems.
  • Understanding of material handling systems.
  • Experience with computer simulation (AutoMOD, Demo3D, Arena, etc.) a plus; experience with data analysis tools (Advanced MS Excel, Access, MSQL, etc.) preferred.


  • Enjoys helping our clients be more productive with advanced automation tools.
  • Ability to provide industrial material flow and information flow analysis and consulting studies.
  • Aptitude for data analysis, slotting studies, and simulation engineering.
  • Performs pre-sales support activities as needed.
  • Ability to communicate to all levels in a client organization with confidence.
  • A team player and coach for all of the various resources required on our projects
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including presentations.
  • Ability to develop "trusted advisor" relationship with client.
  • Develops material and information system handling concepts based on client needs as a part of the project team.
  • Understanding of distribution and manufacturing operations.

General Duties:

  • Coordinate with specific resources (software engineers, controls engineers, CAD / Simulation Engineers, etc.) to prepare reports and proposals.
  • Continue to enhance and refine the tools / methodologies we use.
  • Maintain your education on a wide variety of material handling automation and simulation software areas.
  • Provide computer simulation modeling of proposed material handling systems.
  • Overflow for Functional Specifications and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Create and maintain functional specification documents for software products.
  • Participates in Industry Trade Shows. Strive to become an industry "Speaker" and produce "White Papers".
  • Consistently communicate with the Information Analyst Manager both good news and bad news.
  • Aid in the design of fast, problem-free programs that are exciting to our customers and greatly enhance their productivity with automated material handling systems and order fulfillment centers.
  • Provide helpful input on how we can get better. Continuous improvement.
  • Active participation in the PDSC group.
  • Functions as a mentor to other people on the project team to educate them not only on the software being provided but alternate options installed at other customer sites.
  • Any and all job duties as assigned.
